Review: My, oh my, do we have a pretty one here! Or emotional. Funny, I don't usually equate those two words, "emotional" and "pretty"...

So, my friend said "Maybe it's a shoujo" (oh, the joys of downloading randomly), but the second "your childhood friend is coming to live with us from overseas" came into the picture, GAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

So I thought, "Oh, it's going to be one of those." But, happily, I was surprised. Keigo (from overseas) is a thoughtful character. He's more about "I want my love to be happy" and he's not forceful. On the other hand, he proves that he's a well rounded character by actually looking out for himself. He doesn't let the fact that he likes Chihiro rule his life or make him miserable. He tells Chihiro outright that he'll like him regardless of whether Chi likes him back or not. Keigo makes his crush into something he'll handle by himself, and proves that he's a mature character. Also, the artist does an amazing job on his facial expressions. They're INTENSE; especially because he doesn't say a lot. There's one page at the climax that's especially amazing: it's a split page with Keigo's expression and Chi's reaction only-- not words. It's beautiful (as are many of the pages).

Chi, on the other hand, is a bitch. He's adorable, but he's a bitch. He's got a real problem comprehending homosexuality. (What is it about gay people that's so hard!? Wait-- don't take that the wrong way.) He really changes by the end; enough to make my heart skip a bit, I gotta say. It's good to see a character like that make a solid decision.

The ending didn't really do it for me, but it achieved its purpose. The story was about falling in love; and that's where it cut off. I could've gone for a little more, if even just an omake.

Also, lesbian side characters in BL are the best.
